Accelerating Digital Health
Two countries, one goal: improving everyday life for patients.
As part of Germany’s Digital Healthcare Act, which was launched in December 2019, the Fast-Track Process for Digital Health Applications (in German DiGA) allows for digital technologies to be introduced into outpatient clinical practice and reimbursed by Germany’s statutory health insurers. Up to now, 15 digital health apps – treating a wide range of conditions such as tinnitus, migraine and insomnia – are permanently, and 25 provisionally listed.
In 2021, Belgium has joined Germany as the second frontrunner in the field of digital healthcare with the announcement by the National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (INAMI-RIZIV) of its health app reimbursement scheme. The mHealthBELGIUM evaluation procedure consists of a 3-level validation pyramid. While the general approach seems similar, the webinar will address the key differences.
The Webinar

Not a single app has yet been listed in Belgium and Germany at the same time. Another path to be paved for manufacturers of CE-marked medical devices: efficient implementation and reimbursement in as many EU member states as possible.
